Questions Regarding Our Templates

Our pet web templates are designed using FrontPage 2003. They will also work in FrontPage 2002 and FrontPage 2000.

For our navigation menus, fonts and some background properties we use CSS commonly known as Cascading Style Sheets.

FrontPage is a good program once you understand how to work within FrontPage. If you are new to FrontPage, I offer 2 FrontPage learning classes at www.eclecticacademy.com for FrontPage 2003.

Include Pages

My web templates uses include pages for the navigation menu. An include page is a FrontPage component that allows you to take the contents of one page and "include" them in another page. Include pages are really useful when you have content that is common on all the web template pages like your website navigation. As you edit the include page all the other pages will be updated automatically.

Using Our Pet Templates in FrontPage, Dreamweaver & Expression Web

I have tested the web templates in Dreamweaver and Microsoft's New web editor called Expression Web.

In Dreamweaver I was able to open the web template and edit it. One of the things I noticed is you will need to edit the navigation links on every page as I did not see an option to work with Include Pages.

In Expression Web I was also able to edit the web templates. Include Pages can still be used and edited in Expression Web except you will need to download and install a plug-in for the Include Page feature as Microsoft did not add this feature. You can download it here [ EW Include Page Add-In]

I also teach a class on Expression Web in learning the basic features for working with in Microsoft's New Web Editor. You can signup at www.eclecticacademy.com
